25/11/2020 - Canadian Express Entry System and Research Project Smart Migration in the Czech Republic

On November 25, 2020, Center for Security Studies, Metropolitan University Prague in Prague in cooperation with Mendel University in Brno and the Embassy of Canada in Prague co-organized a webinar on Canadian Express Entry System and Research Project Smart Migration in the Czech Republic.

 

Introductory remarks were delivered by H. E. Ayesha Rekhi, Ambassador of Canada to the Czech Republic. The Smart Migration in the Czech Republic research project, funded by the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), was introduced by the principal investigator, dr. Robert Stojanov from the Department of Informatics, Mendel University in Brno.Presentation of the research article Strengths and Weaknesses of Canadian Express Entry System was delivered by prof. Oldřich Bureš, Head of the Center for Security Studies, Metropolitan University Prague. The presentation was based on the findings from the article co-authored by Bures, O., Klvanova, R. and Stojanov, R. (2020), Strengths and Weaknesses of Canadian Express Entry System: Experts’ Perceptions. Population and Development Review. doi: 10.1111/padr.12354.

Discussion of the research article findings and updates on Canadian Express Entry System were presented by Jonathan Joshi-Koop, Assistant Director – Express Entry, Strategic Policy Planning, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Ottawa, Canada. The seminar has attracted a diverse audience of policymakers, academics and practitioners from Czech Republic and Canada. The webinar closed a lively questions/answers session.
