The main Spanish garment multinational is Inditex, one of the largest garment multinationals in the world with suppliers from Europe, Africa, America, and Asia. In terms of Africa, almost 10 percent of Inditex’s suppliers come from this region, and most of them from Morocco. Inditex has signed a global framework agreement (GFA) with the International Textile, Leather and Garment Workers’ Federation (ITGLWF) in 2007 and since then, it has carried out, along with the main Spanish trade unions, thousands of labour and social audits around the world. This is a cutting edge agreement that is applied, not only in Inditex’s subsidiaries, but also in subcontractors and suppliers. The lecture will explore more in depth into the Corporate Social Responsibility policies of Inditex in Northern African countries.
